King of numbers: Instagram
The most used app on most of our mobile phones will be Instagram. Watching reels and checking DMs will soon be considered a hobby, Just Kidding. It shouldn't be. Instagram is the second top-rated app in the Play Store passing over a billion downloads. Here, I'm going to discuss one of the features that helped Instagram be on the top list.
Instagram was developed in just eight weeks by Kevin Systrom and his developer's team to launch it on the app store and racked up to 25,000 users in a day. Within a week, this number reached 100,000 users and in the next two months increased to a million users. By the year 2018, it crossed the 1B users mark. This makes Instagram the king of numbers in the social media fleet.
One of the features of Instagram, 'Story' has been top-notch. It was launched inside the existing app on 2016 and has been the center of engagement since then. Currently, more than 500 million stories are uploaded every day. Maintaining this kind of feature is an ample task and the Instagram story team has been perfect at it. Continuous improvement and the addition of features hooked everyone in using it.
I've made a small timeline of the evolution of the Instagram story feature which is attached to this post. It describes how they kept adding new things in a small feature that never made 'insta story' old. I feel much inspired by their refinement and modification to hook users.
